During a recent
trip to Hardy I found our camp overflowing. I
noticed the Frontier Motor Lodge had reopened
under new management and was offering rates of
$37 a night, including tax. Working for a
company whose motto is saving money, I've
experienced my fair share of cheap
hotels/motels. I've pretty good as long as it's
clean and safe.
I arrived Friday evening and was checked in by
Richard, the owner. Think back 20 years ago to
traveling and staying a motor lodges. You still
sign in on a registration card/book. No
electronic keys here, you get a key with a large
key chain with your room number on it. I walked
down to my room and was making sure I keep my
expectations in check. I was sure I was safe so
now as long as it was clean, I was good. The
room was still in it's early years decor, but it
was clean, had satellite TV and free Wi Fi. The
water pressure was great, and plenty of hot
water.
Richard and Diane, the new owners, were great.
We asked for a late checkout and didn't leave
the hotel till mid afternoon. Richard thought my
son was with me and got him hot chocolate so he
wouldn't have to drink coffee in the morning and
wanted to know if there was anything special he
wanted for breakfast.
If you are in the area for any of the outdoor
activites, or just enjoying shopping in Hardy
and need an inexpensive, clean place to stay,
give Richard & Diane a call.
